Forget Me Not

I don’t know how much longer I would have been oblivious to forget-me-nots in the grass if Colleen hadn’t hired me to paint them. The shape and number of their petals, the little variations in color, the pops of yellow.

Then, later that year, I was walking through the yard and noticed them. The forget-me-nots themselves, in tiny patches right there in the grass.

I recognized them immediately.

And ever since then, I’ve wondered…

What other little treasures, little beauties am I missing each and every day because I do not know how to look for them? What little blessings am I ignorant of? What beauties would I see if I slowed down enough to look?

That’s what forget-me-nots remind me of, now, whenever I see them. They remind me to slow down, look carefully, and enjoy the tiny details.
