Stand Tall is an original heirloom watercolor, measuring 15.5” x 19.5”. It started as a sketch of a whimsical shore and grew from there. The tree, the billowing clouds, the fox, and the fireflies.

My early versions of this piece were literal interpretations of the reference photo. If you’ve been subscribed for a while, you’ve seen the journey I’ve gone through to get here. Eventually I gave myself permission to change almost everything about the reference photo.

All that remains the same is the contrast of the tree’s height and the ocean’s expansiveness.

This may be the first piece I took such creative liberties, so it holds a special place in my heart.
